How to Make Our Days Christian

There are certain days of the week that the Church has designated for particular activities and practices. Sunday is the Lord’s Day. It is the day we celebrate his resurrection. Most of us know that we are obligated to attend Mass on this day. However, we are also called to rest and avoid work. It is also good to mark Sundays with community or family time.

Fridays are another day that the Church has designated with particular practices. Fridays are meant to be a day of penance. Every Friday, we are called to remember the Lord’s passion and death. As we remember this, we are also encouraged to do some form of penance ourselves. This could be abstaining from meat, sweets, or some other comfort. Perhaps, you could pray the Stations of the Cross or attend Mass.

Love for the Poor

“It is essential and important because it is right and just by natural law and Jesus said so.” We must serve the poor just as Jesus did. Look at his example and follow it. Below are practical ways you can serve the poor:

  • Call someone (a friend or family member) who you know might really benefit from hearing from you.
  • Go on a mission trip.
  • Find somewhere to volunteer.
