Old Testament God vs. New Testament God

Some people say God acted much differently in the Old Testament vs. New Testament. They say the God of the New Testament is merciful and compassionate, but in the Old Testament he is often harsh and unforgiving.

But, a thorough look at Scripture reveals that this is not the case. God is in fact merciful and just throughout the Bible.

Fr. Mike clears up this confusion about God in the Old and New Testaments, and shows how God has stayed the same since before the beginning of time until now.

This isn’t the first time Fr. Mike’s been asked about God changing, check out his original answer here.

  1. I too have always wondered why God seemed to be so “harsh” with his people in the old testament yet so merciful in the new. This explanation from Father Mike totally escaped me. What a powerful explanation. So simple yet it was right in front of me all the time. Thanks for setting me straight on this topic.
