Have you emulated the light of Christ today? Today, Jeff shares some ways we can spread light through the darkness of this world.
Snippet of the Show
“The world doesn’t need my light or your light, it needs something much greater: it needs the light of Christ.”
Shownotes
“
Shining as Light in the Darkness
“Why dost thou make me see wrongs and look upon trouble? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. So the law is slacked and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous, so justice goes forth perverted. Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.” – Habakkuk 1:3-5
“that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,” – Philippians 2:15
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” – John 8:12
“‘You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.’” – Matthew 5:14-16
God is Light
“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” – 1 John 1:5-7
We are Called to Walk in the Light of Christ
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people,[a] that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9
“For it is the God who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 4:6
“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.” – Proverbs 4:18
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” – John 1:5
“Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
“for once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light” – Ephesians 5:8
“And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” – Daniel 12:3
Therefore it is said, ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.’” – Ephesians 5:14
“And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb.” – Revelation 21:23
