Inviting God into Your Daily Life

In the first episode of their new season, the Sisters of Life—Sr. Mary Grace, Sr. Ann Immaculée, and Sr. Marie Veritas—dive into the charism and mission of their community. Together, they explore what it truly means to ‘look at the wonder of you.’ Reflecting on the teachings of their founder, Cardinal O’Connor, they unpack the beauty of contemplation. The sisters share personal stories of struggles and triumphs in prayer. They offer real-life insights into how to bring God into every moment of the day. Join us for this inspiring season opener and discover how to go about inviting God into your daily life!

Quotes
  • “To contemplate is to experience God. When we go out into the world, we continue our contemplation. We continue to try to see the face of God. We try to be absorbed by God’s people and to absorb their hurts and their pains.  Prayer is our primary activity. Prayer is not passivity and then you become active. Prayer is a primary activity. It is imperative to remind ourselves. We cannot dichotomize between these.” – Cardinal O’Connor
  • “But Peter said, ‘I have no silver and gold, but I give you what I have; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise and walk’” (Acts 3:6).
  • “The husband deeply in love with his wife, leaves his wife at home to go out to work, or the wife goes out. Each takes the love of the other with him, with her.” – Cardinal O’Connor
Challenges of the Week
  • Take a Scripture verse each day, and read it. Ask the Holy Spirit to make your heart sensitive to what word he wants you to remember and focus on. Take note of what strikes you, what interests you, and what God wants you to know through this verse. Write the Scripture down and put it somewhere you will see it throughout the day. This is a simple way to go about inviting God into your daily life. This is to remind you of God’s Word, which is present, alive, active, and effective, even in ways that are hidden and mysterious to us.
  • Put up an image that reminds you of God and of his loving gaze somewhere in your home, at work, or where you spend most of your day. This is to remind you that he is with you, looking upon you, and loving you. This is one way you can go about inviting God into your daily life.
  • Keep a Rosary in your pocket. Even if you don’t necessarily pray it, having it near will help you think about it and pray pieces of it throughout the day. Even a decade of the Rosary could change your life. It is one of the most powerful prayers you could pray. The first step to praying it fully is to keep it in your pocket. It is a tangible reminder of Our Lady’s and Our Lord’s presence.

The Sisters of Life are women religious, who profess the three traditional vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, and a fourth vow to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life. They were founded by Cardinal John O’Connor in New York in 1991, and received formal approbation as a religious institute in 2004, under Cardinal Edward Egan.
The mission of the Sisters of Life includes serving women who are vulnerable to abortion, giving them the support and resources to be able to choose life for themselves and their children; hosting weekend retreats; evangelization; outreach to college students; and helping women who have suffered after abortion to encounter the mercy and healing of Jesus Christ.

  2. I just love listening to the Sisters talk, laugh, and compliment each other. When I was a young girl, I wanted and dreamed of becoming a Nun, but life events took me down a different path.. My heart still yearns and aches for that dream to this day.
