God’s Faithfulness at Nighttime

Especially in a time like this, we could all use a bit more light. Today, Jeff explains how we can find God’s faithfulness in the darkness of nighttime, even if it’s just in the stars.

“God took enough time, even in creation, to create the sun, the moon, and the stars as a reflection of his faithfulness towards you.”

Scripture Verses on Finding God’s Faithfulness in Creation

God has designed the night to illuminate his faithfulness and love for us, using the light from the stars and moon. Here are a few scripture verses that echo that sentiment:

“Like the moon it shall be established for ever; it shall stand firm while the skies endure.”

Psalm 89:37

“He determines the number of the stars, he gives to all of them their names.”

Psalm 147:4

“But go your way till the end; and you shall rest, and shall stand in your allotted place at the end of the days.”

Daniel 12:13

“the moon and stars to rule over the night, for his steadfast love endures for ever”

Psalm 136:9

“And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, and let them be lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth.’ And it was so. And God made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.”

Genesis 1:14-18

“When I look at thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast established; what is man that thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that thou dost care for him?”

Psalm 8:3-4

“There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.”

1 Corinthians 15:41

(God’s Glory in Creation and the Law: To the choirmaster – A Psalm of David.) “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.”

Psalm 19:1

The Blessed Virgin Mary as the new Arch of the Covenant

(The Woman and the Dragon) “And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars”

Revelation 12:1

God is Faithful!

“God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

1 Corinthians 1:9

“if we are faithless, he remains faithful — for he cannot deny himself.”

2 Timothy 2:13

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations”

Deuteronomy 7:9

“Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endures throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds.”

Psalm 145:13

Jesus is the Faithful Son

“Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ was faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house if we hold fast our confidence and pride in our hope.”

Hebrews 3:5-6

“while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his own will.”

Hebrews 2:4

“In creation God laid a foundation and established laws that remain firm, on which the believer can rely with confidence, for they are the sign and pledge of the unshakeable faithfulness of God’s covenant. For his part man must remain faithful to this foundation and respect the laws which the Creator has written into it.”

CCC 346

“And David said, ‘The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.’ And Saul said to David, ‘Go, and the Lord be with you!’”

1 Samuel 17:37

“At midnight I rise to praise thee, because of thy righteous ordinances.”

Psalm 119:62

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28
