“Envy—Satan’s Holy Hour”

Have you ever enviously rolled your eyes at someone else’s perfect life and wished they had it a little harder? Jeff explains how envy roots itself in pride and blossoms into hatred. He shows how envy surfaces in many key biblical stories, and he encourages us to ask God for freedom from envy in our lives.

Hi, Jeff. Just wanted to clarify that the relationship between Mozart and Salieri was nothing as portrayed in the movie Amadeus. The movie is entirely fictional and it originated as a dramatic work by Alexander Pushkin, written in 1830. It later evolved into an opera written by Rimsky-Korsakov. When the movie came out there was a group of musicologists who became alarmed and spoke on behalf of Antonio Salieri, who was in fact a wonderful human being who helped many composers get their careers started. The movie plot does show the extent in which envy can destroy a person’s life though. I’m loving your podcasts! Thank you!

Thank you for clarifying, Klara! It’s amazing how Hollywood can take such liberties, so it’s a good reminder to do our homework to get the real back story. We’re glad you’re enjoying the podcast!

We are particularly interested in one of your early shows. Can we look for the early show notes or just from the time we sign up forward?
