5 things you wouldn’t say to God

1. “For the most part I agree with you!”

“You are my friends if you do what I command you.” – John 15:14

“So therefore, whoever of you does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.” – Luke 14:33

“He who has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me; and he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” – John 14:21

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” – Luke 6:46

2. “Lord, help me to come across cool!”

“Likewise you that are younger be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’” – 1 Peter 5:5

“But he gives more grace; therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’” – James 4:6

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but with the humble is wisdom.” – Proverbs 11:2

“He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” – Micah 6:8

3. “If I win the Powerball, I’ll give away half of it!”

“Jesus said to them, ‘Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.’ And they were amazed at him.” – Mark 12:17

“The money isn’t mine in the sense that I own it, it’s simply mine in the sense that I’m responsible for managing it.” – anonymous

“Be not envious of evil men, nor desire to be with them” – Proverbs 24:1

“For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills.” – Psalms 50:10

4. “How do I get more “likes” on social media!”

“if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

“but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Cor 12:9-10

“When you and I boast of our strengths, we get the credit, and we keep going under our own head of steam. But when we boast in what He is doing in the midst of our brokenness, inability, and inadequacy, Christ comes to the front. His strength comes to our rescue. He is honored.” – Chuck Swindoll

5. “Can you autograph my Bible?”

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

“In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins.” – 1 John 4:10

“And Peter opened his mouth and said: ‘Truly I perceive that God shows no partiality, but in every nation any one who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.’” – Acts 10:34-35

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” – Zephaniah 3:17

Bonus: I can take it from here…

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:5
