3 Habits that Get Your Spiritual Life Back on Track

These basic and simple practices strengthen the foundation of our spiritual life and help plant deeper roots.

  1. Make Time for Daily Prayer

Daily prayer is essential for our prayer life. Get into the habit of establishing a consistent prayer routine. Set a specific time and place for your daily prayer, I recommend carving out time in the morning to pray. Being present with the Lord in prayer is one of the most powerful things we can do for our lives. The beginning of the year is a great time to renew the commitment to pray every day.

When you pray, resist the temptation to just read things or fill your mind with information. Learn to sit with the Lord in silence, take time to listen to God, and ponder the truths that are revealed in Scripture. Allow God to speak to you in silence and form you. In addition to sharing your prayer intentions and pouring your heart out to him, be sure to thank the Lord for all the blessings you receive daily.

  2.  Visit the Blessed Sacrament on a regular basis.

A short visit to the Blessed Sacrament for a few minutes every day or a few times a week can bear much fruit.

  3. Go to Confession at least once a month.

Confession is a sacrament of healing, through it we experience the graces that strengthen us so that we can live the Christian life well and overcome our  sins and weakness. I recommend going to confession at least once a month.
