Giving Back to God This Epiphany

Fr. Mark-Mary tells a story about nachos to convey the value of giving back to God this Epiphany. He was visiting friends in Florida, and one of them offered to buy him nachos. He humbly accepted, and offered to share the nachos even though it was very hard for him to share them. When his friend accepted the offer, at first Fr. Mark-Mary regretted ever offering them. But then he noticed, isn’t that how it ought to work with our gifts from God, too? God offers us everything and demands nothing in return, just like the friend who bought him nachos without asking for any herself.

What can you give back to God? Maybe you can give him more time in prayer or acts of charity. Maybe you can devote your talent to him, and build up the kingdom of God. Giving back to God doesn’t just show him our gratitude. It also causes God’s goodness to shine through us, and bring others closer to him in the process.
