Bible Time Period: Royal Kingdom
You established a kingdom on your servant David and promised him an eternal throne: Establish your kingdom in our midst.
The conflict between David and Absolom continues in these chapters, and ends in great sadness. Notice the way God intervenes on David’s behalf, as well as David’s love for Absolom in spite of his treachery.
Seeking to be restored to the throne after Absolom’s death, David appeals to his home tribe of Judah (the area in the South). What was the reaction among those from the other (Northern) tribes? (See 19:43 – 20:2.)
