Did Early Christians Believe in the Eucharist?

Followers of Christ have been questioning whether or not Jesus truly gives us his body and blood in the Eucharist since he first told us in John 6:

“Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.'”

John 6:53-55

“After this many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him. Jesus said to the twelve, ‘Will you also go away?’ Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.'”

John 6:66-69

To this day, many of our Christian brothers and sisters profess that Jesus comes to us in communion merely as a symbol. Some even think that the true presence is a more modern concept that was not understood as such by the early Church. So what did the early Church Fathers say about the Eucharist?

Today, Jackie Angel drops 4 bombshell quotes from Early Church Fathers that might change the way you live your faith.
